Dynamite Film: a piano player's nightmare!
In the 1935 film entitled Mister Dynamite starring Edmund Lowe and based on a on a Dashiell Hammett story called 'On the Make'. This was mid-'30s whodunit where the murderer wired a pistol inside of a piano. When the pianist struck a specific key, the gun fired, killing him. Esther Ralston played the murderer. There were two murders that took place when certain notes were played, setting off the gun.
An American Schomer in Britain
This piano is very tall and has an adjustable angle front to let more or less sound out.
A Hallet and Davis
This one was sent into us by Susan. This piano was made in about 1840.
An Orange Zender
This is a piano I saw on my travels as a piano tuner. Apparently it was made as a special commission for a wealthy client! Zenders are usually tame wood colours.
Very unusual Giraffe Piano
This piano was sold via our web site. These are very very rare now.
The giraffe piano was invented in Vienna and first appeared around 1798.
