Description:Hello My mum and dad bought this piano for me in September 2009. Back then I lived in house which had a perfect alcove for the piano to sit, away from the wall joining our neighbour's house. Since then I have moved to house where there are no sensible places to put the piano and it is very much in the way. My son, now 18 months has discovered it's very easy to bump into it and hurt one's head. Not something we're trying to encourage. The piano itself is an upright, overstrung Gebauer Piano. It has a lovely shiny chestnut coat - I guess I mean stain but it seems to have a delicious sheen to it so stain seems too small a word and coat a bit inaccurate. To my ear it sounds in tune and in good working order. It has three pedals, the middle one is supposed to be a silencer. All the mechanism appears to work but it lacks the bar/baffle that goes across the keys to deaden the sound. I've never had the need to correct it. There is a really tiny chip to the wordwork at the very base of the piano on the left hand side as you look at it. Would say the chip is 2 mm deep x 8 mm x 12 mm. Caused by removal men. The piano is appoximately 146 centimetres wide, 58 1/2 centimetres deep and 110 1/2 centimetres tall. My mum is a pianist, as is my uncle and neither one find this piano offensive to play. It has a good touch and the tone is pleasing. I am only a budding pianist and although I have my grade five I'll never know how I achieved it - luck maybe? Deaf examiner perhaps? I would not say I'm a natural so from the point of view of my husband and son the piano will not be a loss. But to me it's going to be missed, however space for the family is essential. I'm not sure whether there are other items I need to mention. I am based in Southampton and unsurprisingly this item is collection only. Thanks for reading, feel free to ask me questions and I will do my best to answer them :0)
